2021 IBR – Day 11 Flash Report

I am sad to report that BMW has let down another rider. John Coons is about a half-hour south of Eugene, Oregon with a failed final drive system on his 2007 BMW R1200 RT. John was 18^th in the standings and is always a threat to take a spot on the podium. The resolution for this mechanical failure is still ongoing but it does not look like John will be able to finish the 2021 IBR. This was a problem that plagued IBR riders for years but the failures have decreased as new models were introduced and the older models faded from use. Unfortunately for John he has a 2007 model year bike and that is right in the range when they were giving riders problems.
